End violence against gender and sexual minority: BDS

Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 6 – Gender and sexual minority community has demanded that violence against this community should come to an end. The community expressed such opinion while participating in 16-day campaign against gender violence.

ParsuramThe Blue Diamond Society pressed to end violence participating in the various campaigns held in some parts of country. The Society said only the violence that occurs on children and women has been highlighted but their grievances are not addressed.  The Society said violence against homosexual and transgender have not been properly highlighted.

“We need support from all sections because we are facing discrimination and violence,” said Deputy Director of Society Parshuram Rai. Rights activist Ishan Regmi said the future laws should be gender and sexual minority friendly. Regmi demanded strong action against those involved in violence against this community. Rai said the violence occurs to all community should be made public so that campaign will be meaningful.

SapanaBDS Bardiya Chapter Sundar Sansar participated in the campaign with a slogan that home peace is foundation of world peace, education and equal treatment. Transgender Sapana Chaudhary informed about the natural and social sexual organ stating that new constitution has ensured some rights of this community. Transgender Kajol Chaudhary of Bardiya said all should press to implement constitutional provisions. According to her, the role of youths is vital to do so.
