Kathmandu/ Pahichan – Blue Diamond Society is recruiting a national consultant to comprehensively review laws, regulations, court decisions and policies in Nepal that are relevant to legal gender recognition. The consultant’s national report will also look at how provisions and court decisions have been implemented in practice and their impact on broader human rights for transgender people. The project will build on current national initiatives and contribute to ongoing multi-stakeholder dialogues in Nepal on these issues.

UNDP under the Being LGBTI in Asia initiative is undertaking this multi- country legal gender recognition project in eight countries in Asia-Pacific. The other seven countries in this review are India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. National consultants use an assessment tool that has been developed by UNDP.
