Kaski (Pahichan) March 1 – District Administration office Kaski has started issuing citizenship to gender and sexual minority as per their identity. Human rights activist Laxmi Silwal , ‘Raj’ is the first person to get citizenship in the district under O category.
After Supreme Court verdict in 2064, Bishnu Adhikari had received citizenship mentioning transgender in the gender category. But Laxmi is first to get citizenship under O category.
Citizenship was provided on the basis of recommendation made by Village Development Committee. After receiving citizenship, Raj urged non-governmental organization and private agencies to mention O.
According to him, it was not easy to get citizenship under O category. “It is a matter of pride and happiness to get citizenship under O category,” said Raj.
