LGBTI stall in Hetauda Trade Fair

Makawanpur (Pahichan) March 10 – In the National Industrial Trade Fair 2072, Friends Hetauda, an organization working for the gender and sexual minority, has set up a stall. The purpose of stall is to create awareness about gender and sexual minority. As thousands people visit the fair, it is a great opportunity to educate people about this community. This is probably first imitative outside the Kathmandu valley.  

Hetauda 2Makawanpur Chapter of Commerce and Industry has provided necessary assistances to set up the stall.  “During the fair period, we will inform visitors about the five groups of LGBTI,” said Suraj Thapa, program coordinator of Friend’s Hetauda. According to him, there is a facility of free of cost blood check up of HIV infected people which would be beneficial.

Makawanpur Chamber of Commerce has provided all logistics for the set up of stall. Chairman Raj Kumar Neupane said along with economic, the purpose of Fair is social contribution.

“They approached to us and we provided support. It is part of our social contribution,” Neupane said. He requested to seize this moment to inform more and more people about this community. Friends Hetauda is providing counseling along with distributing various leaflets. Friends Hetauda has expressed gratitude to Neupane and other organizers for providing them opportunity.
