Kathmandu (Pahichan) March 20 – Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society Manisha Dhakal has said that definition of marriage should be redefined. The traditional definition of marriage has put gender and sexual minority in the difficult situation, according to Dhakal.
The Muluki Ain has defined that marriage is between male and female,” Dhakal said, “That needs to be redefined stating that marriage is between two people who like each other.” Dhakal is of the view that only legalizing the same-sex marriage is not pill to resolve all ills concerning gender and sexual minority. “There are five groups under the LGBTI and their sexual orientation id different so we should redefine the traditional definition of marriage,” Dhakal said.
Transgender encouraged by constitution rights
Dhakal has said that newly adopted constitutional provision regarding gender and sexual minority has encouraged the members of this community. “However, it has not changed the life style of gender and sexual minority,” said Dhakal. However, it has placed members of gender and sexual minority in a equal which has made them encouraged.
