Kathmandu (Pahichan) May 8 – The participants of Miss Pink 2016 have been finalized. Blue Diamond Society and Cruse AIDS Nepal are jointly organizing the contest.18 participants came to the office of BDS and confirmed their participation.
All the people who have filled the form for the contest will be eligible to take part in the contest. The participants are receiving training at Care and Support, a branch office of BDS. Principal Trainer Rajesh Lama, Deputy Trainer Transgender Bhumika Shrestha and Piter Tamang are providing trainings.
Participants are happy for getting such platforms. “There is not positive attitude in society about us, and they project us in a way that we cannot do anything. We want to show that we are capable of doing something,” said Participant Ani Lama. According to Lama, such programs help to bring positive change in the society. Another participant Maya Sunwar said as members of this community are denied from participating in other social activities, it is an ample opportunity to them.
“We do not get the status of citizen in the society, so we want to show that we can do something,” said Lama. The contest will provide both opportunity and confidence for the members of this community, according to participants.
This will also be hotcake for the media. Ani is achieving bachelor in Fashion Designing. The Pink Miss contest is taking place on May 17 at Rastriya Nachghar Kathmandu. The winner will take part in International Pink Contest that takes place in Thailand.
Meanwhile, participants of Miss Pink have participated in the Clean Kathmandu, Green Kathmandu campaign. They clean up the Bagbazar area in this morning. A team led by Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung is attending the cleanup campaign. Gurung thanked the participants. Gurung thanked to Miss Ten Participants for their contribution.
