The constitutional rights of LGBTI remain unchanged

Kathmandu (Pahichan) June 8 – Lawmaker and Central Working Committee member of Nepali Congress Dhanraj Gurung has said that the rights acquired by transgender cannot be arrested by anyone. Speaking to Pahichan Radio program, Gurung said the rights granted by constitution to all communities would remain intact.

“The constitution has addressed homosexual and transgender as gender and sexual minority, the provision should be translated into law, otherwise constitution will not be implemented,” Gurung said. He said there is a need of collective efforts to implement the constitution.

He said government is not serious for the implementation of the new constitution saying that Prime Minister KP Oli is making the country’s problem more complicated. “The members of this community should not remain silent because the interpretation of provision could be different,” said Gurung.
