Kathmandu (Pahichan) June 9 – On Wednesday Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz and the U.S. Embassy community hung rainbow banners to show their support for the LGBT community during Pride Month 2016 and celebrate the great diversity of the American people, the Embassy said in a press statement.
June is LGBT Pride Month in commemoration of the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. Pride Month recognizes the history of the LGBT movement, while acknowledging the work that remains to be done, and celebrating the progress we have made in creating a more inclusive and accepting world.
