Rupandehi (Pahichan) June 27 – District Development Committee of Rupandehi has provided assistances for conducting the orientations on gender and sexual minority. Mono Supporting Maypl Group has organized three-day orientation programs at three schools and District Development Committee provided the support for the same purpose.
According to Manila Neupane, Program Coordinator of Blue Diamond Society Bhairawaha, the orientation program was organized at Gautam Buddha Higher Secondary School, Semara Secondary School and Pashupati Higher Secondary School. The students of grade 10 of those schools were provided knowledge about gender and sexual minority. Neupane said members of gender and sexual minority are facing discrimination at the educational institutions.
According to her, members of this community should get the opportunity to get the education like heterogeneous people in the school. She said teachers should be aware that members of this community have equal rights like other people when it comes to acquiring education.
Local Development Office of Rupandehi Durga Prasad Adhikari members of this community are equal like male and female. Shrestha said as this has been mentioned in the curricula of grade 6,7 and 8, teachers should teach about the members of this community.
