Focus on social works : Stakeholders  

Rupandehi (Pahichan) July 24 – Gender and sexual minority community has been advised to engage on social works. Speaking at a press conference organized Bhairahawa Chapter of Blue Diamond Society, journalists advised to give a positive message engaging on social works. They said homosexual and transgender should disclose their identity to let the society know about the discrimination.

They also said that as there is a less coverage about this community, such situation should come to an end.  Advocate Sujan Panta said as constitution has ensured the rights, the stakeholders should be serious to press concerned state agencies about its implementation.
In terms of the rights of homosexual and transgender, Nepal’s constitution is supreme in the south Asia. He said if constitution is implemented, Nepal would be a model country in the country. Pant said it is unfortunate government report on same-sex marriage has not been implemented.
Manila Neupane, Program Coordinator of Blue Diamond Society Bhairawaha said there is gradual change but discrimination and manhandling still remains. Neupane said she got the citizenship after the struggle of 10 years and it is necessary to bring a change towards the homosexual and transgender.
Nuepane said there is a need of formulation of policy and program as per the constitutional provisions.  Transgender Binita Shahi, Ambantika Ghartri Magar and Bibek Magar said due to the lack of citizenship and passports, they are denied from participating in the state show.  Ambantika Ghartri said though she is trying to get citizenship, she has not received the opportunity to get the citizenship.  Transgender Anika Rana said it depends on the understanding of government officials about issuing citizenship to transgender. She said she receive the citizenship after a long-battle. She informed of receiving passport as per the gender identity.
