Dang (Pahichan) August 13 – Transgender rights activist Manila Neupane has received passport as per her gender identity. She has received citizenship earlier month and she received passport on Shrawan 22. She received both documents mentioning others in the documents. Neupane expressed pleasure for getting citizenship as per gender identity.
“Nepal government has started issuing citizenship and passport on the basis of citizen. Like Dalit, Madhesi, Muslim community, we should get employment opportunity,” said Neupane. She also said that government should provide assistances to BDS.
Around seven hundred members of this community are working in BDS but millions are still jobless. “Though government has provided citizenship and passports as per the gender identity, they have not been provided jobs,” said Neupane.
