NSU picks transgender as its representatives

Kathmandu (Pahichan) August 17 – For the first time, Nepal Student Union (NSU) has selected two transgender as representatives of its General Convention. Exercising inclusive approach as per the constitutional approach, NSU selected two representatives.

Sahas BatalaSimilarly, NSU has amended its statute to pave the way for the entry of transgender in its Central Committee.  Following the same provision, Bhakti Shah and Sahas Batala has been selected as convention representatives.

“There are a lot of sister organizations but NSU has taken a lead to make it inclusive,” Shah said adding that it would be a source of inspiration for other sister organizations as well. He said NSU would accommodate this community in its central committee.

“I will raise the voices of marginalized community in the NSU,” Shah said adding that he would play to empower the transgender. Shah is going to fight for Central Committee.  “I am very happy that NSU has accommodated transgender. I will encourage transgender to engage in politics,” said Sahas Batala.  There are 15 various clusters in the under the social justice rights.
