BDS draws the attention of PM Office

Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 29 – Members of gender and sexual minority have drawn the attention of office of the prime minister and council of ministers. This community wrote a letter stating that Nepal did not support in the agenda of LGBTI in the United Nations.

They have expressed sadness for not attending in the UN vote organized to select the experts on gender and sexual minority. They had written a letter to Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat asking him to ensure Nepal’s presence in the voting.

Chairman of BDS Pinky Gurung urged the government to be serious about the agenda of gender and sexual minority. Gurung said it is a mock of rights of gender and sexual minority not to raise the issue of this community though Nepal has guaranteed the rights of this community in its constitution. 84 countries voted in favour of it, while 17 countries remained neutral and 77 countries voted against this proposal.
