Constitution has addressed the aspirations of all people: Speaker

Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 5 – Speaker Onsari Gharti has said that constitution has addressed the rights of all sections and communities. She said that article 18 of new constitution has ensured that there could not be discrimination to any citizen and there will be rights of equality.

“No one should face discrimination because constitution has provided the protection to all people,” Gharti made such remarks speaking at program organized by Motherland Nepal which has established Gender Equality Journalism Prize.

Gharti said prize distribution is meaningful as it has taken at a time when country is celebrating campaign against women violence.  The prize was jointly distributed to journalist Dhirendra Premarshi and Babita Basnet.  Jha and Basnet said there are not only women and there are also transgender whose rights should be highlighted. “We should respect the transgender and their identity should be respected,” they said.
