Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 16 – Gender and sexual minority community has said that bill drafted regarding the formation various constitution commissions is against the spirit of new constitution. They said bill on formation of National Inclusive Commission, Adhibasi and Janajati Commission, Madhesi Commission, Muslim Commission and Tharu Commission has not met the constitutional sprit. Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung said the bill has not addressed the concerns of this community though article 12, 18 and 42 have guaranteed the rights of this community.
“It is against the constitutional provisions which have not addressed this community though other minority groups are accommodated,” Gurung said. The article 12 of the constitution has ensured the citizenship on the basis of gender identity. She challenged that it cannot be implemented.
She complained that no one raised the concerns of this community in the discussion held. “Such commission can not address the concerns and issues so it is not acceptable to us,” Gurung said. She said Inclusive Commission should address the concerns of this community to end the discrimination against this community.
She also sought the support of all to ensure the participation of this community in the state mechanisms. She said though members of this community are facing discrimination in the society, country and all walks of life there has not been any efforts for the capacity enhancement of this community. She also demanded to scrap the provisions of age limit and other standards. “There are many ways to be intellectual. Many become intelligent through practice,” said Gurung.
