Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 18 – Central Executive Council member of Naya Shakti Nepal and head of Law and Human Right Department of party Mukti Pradhan has said that there should be reservation for transgender in all state mechanisms. Speaking to Pahichan, he said there is a need to ensure the representation of this community.
“Only the constitutional guarantee is not sufficient, there should be representation of this community,” he said, adding that proportional representation and reservation should not be only a showpiece. He said though there is 33 representations in Parliament, there is dismal representation in the council of ministers.
He said there should be representation at all level. He said Naya Shakti Nepal has always ensured the representation of this community. He said number of transgender has been shown very low in national statistics. According to World Health Organization, ten percent of the total population constitutes this community.
