Nawalparsi (Pahichan) December 20 – Blue Diamond Society Nawalparsi Chapter has said that members of this community are hesitant to disclose their identity like other districts. The Society said that like in other places, there is not positive perception to this community in the district.
Only 150 members of this community have come to contact, according to Coordinator Pushpa Lama. According to her, 40 sex workers have come to contact and 25 homosexual and transgender. Out of them, 9 are HIV infected and two are women.
According to her, there is not positive attitude to this community. “We have not sought anything more than male and female. We have sought equal treatment like them,” Lama said adding that members of this community are not living with their identity.
She said there should not support from government as the support from donor agencies would not be durable. Lama said there should be positive attitude from government agencies.
