Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 29 – The social attitude towards gender and sexual minority is gradually changing. Couple of years back, there was a totally negative perception about this community. The communication and other campaigns launched by Blue Diamond Society contributed a lot for the positive change in the society. BDS is operating Pahichan media campaign to bring out social change towards this community.
Rashmi Shakya of Lalitput says it is a positive development that social perception is changing. According to her, there should not be discrimination on the basis of gender identity. “Every people has his or her weakness, they also have weaknesses,” said Rashmi who is running a Beauty parlor.
“They visit our office and we provide them service, there is no questions of discrimination and negative attitude,” said Rashmi. According to her, due to the discrimination, there is not self-confidence to them. She said it is the responsibility of government to establish the rights of gender and sexual minority.
