LGBT leadership Program, 2017 Call for application  

Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 8 – IsraAID, The Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid, In Collaboration with globally renounced LGBT organisation, announce the LGBT Emerging Leader Program for 2017, and invite suitable candidate to apply.

Program description

Recognizing the importance of leadership, social responsibility and community development, IsraAID in together with Its Global partner, have initiated a LGBT leadership program named “LGBT Emerging Leader Program”.  The six week residential program, from 15th May 2017 to 26th June 2017 (tentative) is a unique opportunity for activists to emerge as LGBT leaders by acquiring special tools to promote and elevate the community and become better activists and promote the change they dream about.

The Overall goal is to promote the LGBT community in Nepal and South East Asia, by capacitating and supporting activists and social leaders who are working for LGBT Rights, Health, Social Welfare, Protection, culture and Education. The long term Goal is to build Nepal as a center and example for the south east Asian LGBT community by expanding the activities through local leaders who were trained and motivated by this program.

The Program is an exclusive and prestigious program which has been running successfully in China in the past 6 years and is now initiated in Nepal for the first time ever. The Program is six weeks long fulltime residential program that includes introduction to top LGBT issues and intervention, working with experienced LGBT Leaders and activists, Social and cultural events, motivational activities and more. In order to conduct a fair and better selection process, further detailed of the program will be only revealed in later stage.

Eligibility

Age: 18-40 (by 1st May 2017)

Education: High School (+2) running or completed

Experience: The applicant must have been actively involved with LGBTI movement in Nepal or involved with any NGOs and agencies that work for the protection of the rights of LGBTI community for at least one year during the past three years.  Preferably, the Applicant has initiated and championed a social activity, in their community or elsewhere, related to LGBT.

Language Requirement: A good knowledge of spoken English and reasonable written English is preferred. The Program is entirely in English, only candidate able to communicate in English will be considered.

Motivation: Self-Motivated and have strong Desire to work for the betterment of the LGBT.
