Kailali (Pahichan) February 15 – A memorandum of Understanding has been submitted demanding to ensure a same-sex marriage in civil code which is being drafted to replace Muluki Ain. Human Right network Kailali like other districts, demanded to scrap the discriminatory provisions and ensure the same-sex marriage.
Network submitted memorandum through Chief District Administration office which will be given to Speaker Onsari Gharti. It is demanded marriage should not be defined as between male and female but between two people.
According to Orec Nepal Kailai Coordinator, the issues of gender and sexual minority have not been mentioned in the amended draft which might create problems. The 18-point demand covers the wide-range of issues of gender and sexual minority.
