Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 15 – Blue Diamond Society has directed to take stringent measures to prevent the HIV infection and prepare programs and policies accordingly. In training organized targeting the scheme of HIV test and treatment being operated in 10 districts, BDS directed to make it effective through awareness program. The program is being operated with assistance from HIV AIDS Control Centre, a government body.
Chairman Pinky Gurung asked to create awareness in a way that more and more members of this community use condoms. “HIV infection is not detected soon after the sexual relation, there is a need of test to find the power to fight against this disease,” she said, adding that initial symptoms are seen mainly after the six weeks.
She said members of gender and sexual minority are under more risk than male and female and there is a need of spread of awareness program. Stating that lives of many people will ruin, she directed to work in a way that could drastically reduce the possibility of infection.
According to Durga Thapa, program manager said creating awareness, testing and controlling the infections are the key components of program. The programs are being launched in Kathmandu, Dhanusha, Saptari, Morang, Parsa, Doti, Salyan, Sindhuli, Udayapur and Tanahu which is called induction program. According to Account Officer Rajani Gorkhali said situation of stopping the program will not happen as center will release budget on time.
