The rights of this community are cemented: UML lawmakers

Kathmandu (Pahichan) April 9 – Lawmakers from CPN-UML have said that as constitution has already cemented the rights of gender and sexual minority no one can stop from implementation. Speaking to Pahichan, lawmakers Parbat Gurung and Amar Sharma said no one can deny those rights.

“Members of this community have already received the equal rights,”Sharma said , adding that rights to same-sex marriage should be provided respecting the constitutional provisions. Parbat Gurung said efforts should be made to ensure the representation of this community in the local polls.

Gurung said members of this community should be mainstreamed in the politics through the practical implementation . “The number of representation in the local level has decreased. But members of this community should be accommodated,” Gurung said, adding that members of this community could be accommodated through reservation.
