Nawalparasi (Pahichan) May 7 – Transgender Jaya Thapa has performed the last rites and other rituals of her father. Her father died few days ago. She performed the last rites and doing ritual to demonstrate an example that members of gender and sexual minority can do all the works that man do.
She said though members of this community can do all the works like male, society and family are still creating the obstacles. She also cared her father when he was sick and after the death she wants to send her father to heaven. Thapa is working to transform the society.
She will complete 13-day ritual as per the Hindu religion. “I am very happy as well as sad. I want to set an example. There is a need of positive thinking,” said Thapa.
