Alok to visit Nepal, Rainbow Flag Raising Ceremony on Wednesday

Kathmandu (Pahichan) May 16 – Alok Vaid-Menon, a famous trans writer, entertainer, and performances artist from New York, is visiting to Kathmandu.  Alok has been invited to perform, speak, and facilitate at universities, conferences, and organizations across the world;

Their work has been featured in various outlets like HBO, MTV, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, The New York Times, The New Yorker, TEDx and more medias. For the past decade Alok has worked with feminist, queer, and trans movements across the world. Their eclectic sense of style, political humor, and poetic challenge to the gender binary has been internationally renowned.

What would it mean to create a world where feelings are considered as real and gender is not? Join us for a guided creative workshop facilitated by performance artist Alok Vaid-Menon.

Alok will guide participants through a series of exercises to take participants from the page to the stage and back again. With an emphasis on trauma, sexuality, legacy, embodiment, and gender we will work together to create art that is both meaningful and impactful.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and International Family Equality, United Nations and Blue Diamond Society is organizing a special program. The theme of program is Love Makes a Family. There will be Rainbow Flag Raising ceremony on Wednesday at UN House, Pulchowk.
