Binod BC/Rupandehi (Pahichan) May 16 – Kher Singh Godar, a senior public health administrative officer of Rupandehi District, has said that it is a matter of happiness for him to work with gender and sexual minority.
He said as gender and sexual minorities are equal like other people in the society, they should get the opportunity to live without any hesitation and problems. Speaking at coordinative meeting with stakeholders meeting in Rupandei district, Godar said society should accept this community in a comfortable way. Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization, has provided assistances for conducting the program.
Speaking in Coordinative meeting, Social Development Officer of Siddhartha Nagar Municipality Shekhar Nath Panthi said in comparison to other districts, members of this community are performing exemplary works in the district.
Panthi said he is ready to offer any kinds of assistances and all should lend their support to this community. Transgender Anik Rana demanded to arrange same-sex marriage. Program Coordinator of Blue Diamond Society, Rupandei, and Manila Neupane said members of this community are facing HIV-infection in comparison to other community.
Neupane said government is not taking measures to provide treatment to HIV infected people. District Education Office Chief, Women Development Office Chief, District Legal Assistance Committee Program Coordinator Sunil Tripathi, Indira Acharya, Chairman of Kadam Nepal, New Reader of Rupandei FM Usha KC were present in the program. The program was attended by 50 people. A document film based on LGBTI content was played in the program.
