Nawalparasi (Pahichan) May 28 – Terai Madhes Forum has selected a transgender as a candidate for the post of Mayor in Nawalparasi. With the decision of taking part in second phase of election, the party took such decision.  Gita Saithwar has been selected as a Mayor. The party has said that Gita is a popular and capable candidate who is from ward no 8 of Ramgran Municipality.

For the Deputy Mayor, party has picked Kebal Kurmi from the ward 7 of the Municipality. The party decision is a surprise for the local people as transgender has been selected as a candidate.

Though Gita is a third gender, she has already married and has taken citizenship under women category.  Gita was born in 2019 BS in India. She started to live in India after he became 15 years old. She married with local resident Ramji Saithwar. It has been 40 years since she was shifted to Ujaini of Ramgram Municipality.

As she is a follower of Buddhism, She started to live near the Ramgram Stupa.  There is a group of transgender who is associated with a group Gita. Her main profession is dancing in marriage and other social ceremony. But, she is new in politics. However, she was interested in politics for the long time.

In the previous Constituent Assembly election, she fought election from constituency 6 on the behalf of Nepal Yuba Kisan Party.  The election for Mayor Post is her comeback in the election. Gita said her first priority is to make people happy providing those services and facilities.

She plans to provide land certificate to the squatters living mainly in ward 8. Gita also pledged to black top all the roads in the areas of municipality.  Similarly, she is planning to create a fund for the development and protection of Ramgram Stupa. Establishing a statute of Buddha, constructing a beautiful pond and constructing the houses for religious tourists are her other top agenda.
