Volunteers should be mobilized: COCAP

Kaski (Pahichan) June 19 – Collective Campaign for Peace(COCAP) Western Regional Secretariat has said that there is a need of mobilizing its volunteer to bring about the change towards gender and sexual minority. The organization expressed such opinion at a program organized in Pokhara on the problems faced by gender and sexual minority.

Regional Program Officer of COCAP Pushpa Raj Koirala said youths should know about this community to change the social attitude.

He said COCAP volunteers should create an awareness in the house, society and  state about the rights of gender and sexual minority. Bindiya Gautam, Program Coordinator of Paribartan Nepal said securing the rights of gender and sexual minority is still a challenge.

Gautam said it is still difficult to struggle in society with disclosing the identity. She shared the problems faced by gender and sexual minority in their day-to-day lives. Journalists Bipana Paneru said Pahichan Radio program has played a positive role to highlight the issues of gender and sexual minority.
