Kathmandu (Pahichan) June 20 – Lawmaker Tuka Bhadra Hamal has said that same-sex marriage should be legalized.
Hamal, a lawmaker from opposition party CPN-UML, said marriage is an individual liberty so same-sex marriage should be managed in society. She said such marriage should be made dignified.
“The statistics shows that the population of this community is high. If they are denied from rights I could invite some problems. To prevent such problems and ensure the civil rights, same-sex marriage should be legalized,” she said. She said only constitutional guarantee is not sufficient.
