Nawalparasi (Pahichan) June 21 – A transgender has registered candidacy for the Mayor of Ramgran Municipality of Nawalparasi. According to the electoral alliance between Terai Madhes Forum and CPN(ML), Gita Saithwar has registered the candidacy for Mayor post. Gita is a transgender.
According to electoral alliance, Terai Madhes Forum filed candidacy for Mayor and CPN(ML) for Deputy Mayor. According to election officer Kailash KC, 51 year old Saithwar filed the candidacy, a permanent resident of Ramgram Municipality ward no 7. She has passed grade 8.
Her candidacy was proposed by Dipchandar Chather and seconded by Chandra Karal. Kebal Koiri, a male, has filed candidacy for the Deputy Mayor. Gita has received citizenship under women’s category who is married. In the First Constituent Assembly(CA) election, she fought from constituency 6.
