Indira Neupane/Makwanpur (Pahichan) June 21 – Students have requested to incorporate the issues related to homosexual and transgender in secondary level curricula. After the orientation on LGTBI, they said due to the lack of knowledge, there is discrimination to this community in the society, so that it needs to be addressed in school education.
The students expressed such opinion in the program organized by Friends Hetauda and District Coordination Committee on the wide-range of issues related to gender and sexual minority.
The students also expressed the commitment to play the role to end the discrimination to this community in the school. There was the participation of 58 students from Rastriya Rotary Secondary Schools and 103 from Kiran Secondary School.
The students were imparted the knowledge about the gender and sexual minority and how they are like male and female. Informing the students, transgender said, “There should not be discrimination to anyone on the basis of separate sexuality. All people enjoy same human rights.”
Students were told that changes should begin from the school and change begins from school. Students expressed the happiness sayin that it provided an opportunuty for them to learn a lot of things about LGBTI.
