Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 7 – Naya Shakti Nepal party has incorporated gender and sexual minority in its commitment paper prepared for upcoming federal parliament and provincial parliamentary elections. In the 27 page of election manifesto it is mentioned that special program will be introduced for the social security of gender and sexual minority.
Similarly, election manifesto states that citizenship on the basis of gender identity will be introduced and special attention will be paid for the education and health of this community. The party has also expressed commitments to facilitate the efforts to promulgate same-sex marriage. Naya Shakti Nepal party is the only party that is forward when it comes to raising the issues of gender and sexual minority.
Nepali Congress has also clearly mentioned about the rights of gender and sexual minority. NC has clearly mentioned words about this community. In the 48 page of election manifesto, it is clearly
mentioned that it is NC’s duty and aim to ensure the rights of homosexual, bisexual, transgender, and inter-sex to make society more tolerant. Other issues of gender and sexual minority have not been mentioned in the election manifesto.
After the constitution promulgated in 2015 cemented the rights of gender and sexual minority, parties have started to include the members of this community in their party committees. Members of this community have already started to receive passport and citizenship on the basis of their identity.
