Left alliance snubs LGBTI agenda in election manifesto

Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 7 – It seems that left alliance of CPN-UML and CPN(Maoist Centre) has snubbed the gender and sexual minority. The joint election manifesto of left alliance has not touched upon of gender and sexual minority. LGBTI constitutes 10 percent of total population.

Though the clusters of women, children, Dalit and other various marginalized communities are mentioned, there are not even the single words about this community. The rights of LGBTI have already been mentioned in the constitution promulgated in 2015.

Nepali Congress and Naya Shakti Nepal party, however, have clearly mentioned about LGBTI saying that they will work for the gender and sexual minority. Naya Shakti has nominated Pinky Gurung under Proportional Representation Category. Earlier, the then UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal had said that UML is the guardian of gender and sexual minority.
