Lalitpur (Pahichan) March 30 – Bhakti Shah, transgender rights activist, has been elected as a member of Nepal Trade Union Lalitpur Chapter. He was elected unopposed under the open category. Shah is the first transgender to become the member of Trade union.
Earlier, Bhumika Shrestha was elected as general convention representatives of Nepali Congress. Shah is member of Federation of Nepali Journalist Lalitpur Chapter. Shah said along with happiness for being elected as member, he has felt more responsibility.
“I gave candidacy for the implementation of constitutional provision, I want to thank all who helped me to secure this position,” Shah said. Shah said all the political parties must provide space to this community.
