Kathmandu (Pahichan) April 4 – National Assembly (NA) member of CPN-UML Khim Lal Bhattarai has said that all the citizens must get equal rights. Speaking to Pahichan, all the citizens must get equal rights that a human being exercises.
“Irrespective of his or her gender identity all the citizens must get equal rights. Without affecting social norms and values, same sex marriage must be provided to the members of this community,” said Bhattarai.
Bhattarai said lawmakers should undertake a study about the possibility of marriage rights of marginalized community.
Bhattarai underlined the need of study of social and cultural impact of same-sex marriage and members of this community should be provided the rights of same-sex marriage. “Government will have to take a draft of law to make law.
Members of this community must inform government about the rights of this community,” said Bhattarai. Bhattarai said there should not be delay in providing rights to the members of this community.
