Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 20 – In a depressing instance, transgender have been barred from entering in the premises of Kathmandu District Court. Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinki Gurung and Acting Director of Manisha Dhakal were denied to go inside Kathmandu district court. Both Gurung and Dhakal had gone there to participate in hearing of a case related to transgender in the court but security forces stopped them in the gate.
Gurung informed that police officials citing the directives from above stopped them. “This is injustice to us. We have faced injustice in an institution which is responsible for providing justice to all,” said Gurung. This is a first time that transgender have been denied access for the first time. Advocate Sujan Pant said it is defamation to transgenders to block them, and violation of human rights.
Shree Prasad Sanjel, an official at Kathmandu District Court defended the court’s decision saying that people not related to cases have been stopped. “Police officers might have stopped to avoid crowd in the court premises,” Sanjel told Pahichan online. He said that third genders will not be stopped in gate in the coming days. “I have talked with security persons and there will not obstacles to enter,” said Sanjel. Chairman Gurung, however, said that court has stopped him with ill-intention. Blue Diamond Society is working in the welfare of homosexuals, and transgenders ensuring their human rights, legal rights, education, health and employment.
