Kavre police arrests four people involved in attacking homosexuals and transgender  

Kavre(Pahichan) April 16- Kavre Police has arrested four people who were involved in attacking homosexuals and transgender. Rajesh Shrestha, Sagar Shrestha, Animesh Lama and Binod Shrestha were arrested from Bhulumtar of Kavre district.

They attacked homosexuals and transgender at a picnic program organized by Blue Diamond Society on Chaitra 28, 2071.  Kavre Police Chief Puja Singh said that they have been arrested after a case was lodged identifying the names of persons involved in the attack.

Singh said they are facing difficulties to file a case against them due to the political pressure. In the attack Anil Sherpa, Santosh Kandel and Mani Khadka were injured. Singh said that local leaders, lawmakers are pressing not to file case against them.

The injured people are receiving treatments are the various hospital atKathmandu, according to Blue Diamond Society Chairman Pinki Gurung. Chief of Bagmati Police SSP Sudip Acharya assured that they would identify the fact after the investigation.

Local residents also verbally assaulted the homosexuals and transgender. After the dispute, they attacked in the picnic. Advocate Sujan Panta said that there is a law of taking strong action against them. Local residents have urged the police not to forward the case at district level on Chaitra 29, 2071.
