Nepal government expresses commitment to end discrimination against gender and sexual minorities

Kathmandu(Pahichan) July 19-Nepal government has expressed a commitment that it would end all types of discrimination and violence against sexual and gender minorities. Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey assured that government will provide directions to its UN representative to sign a UN commitment that seeks to end all types of discrimination against this community.

In a meeting with Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinki Gurung, Executive Director Manisha Dhakal and Deputy Executive Director Parshu Ram Rai and Advocate Sujan Panta said they would give directives through foreign secretary.

Till now, 85 countries have already expressed their commitment, according to former lawmaker Sunil Babu Pant. Panta said Nepal should provide a positive message across the country signing the document as Nepal government as taken some positive measures in ensuring the right of this community. Dhakal said government should sign the document to end the discrimination against this community.
