Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 26 – UK development agency does not support gender and sexual minority ? Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society Manisha Dhakal threw this question to Tom FingFind.
The agency has organized a discussion on 2016-2020 strategic planning with stakeholders but nothing has been mentioned about this community. Dhakal asked why this community has not been incorporated in the proposed plan. She advised to incorporate about this community in the policy targeted for the people living under the poverty line and women.
“Many people perceive that gender discrimination is related between man and women, we fear that UK development agency could do the same mistake,” Dhakal said. FingFind said they will address the demands of this community. Deputy Director of Society, Parshuram Rai said as Nepal’s constitution has incorporated about his community, development agencies should make plan and policy accordingly.
“We are often saying that agency should support gender and sexual minority, now it has been mentioned in the constitution,” Rai said adding that they are hopeful of getting assistance.
