Kathmandu (Pahichan) April 14 – Pink Beauty Pageant 2016 is taking place very soon. Umbrella organization of homosexual and transgender Blue Diamond Society and its branch office is going to organize pink competition.
According to Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung, such beauty contest against the discrimination being faced by members of this community. Such competition is continuously taken place since the establishment of BDS in 2001.
The title of first Pink award was received by transgender Umesh Pandey. According to Manisha Dhakal, Executive Director of BDS, people who were born as male but gradually inherited the gestures, behavior and characters of women can contest.
There is no age bar and interested candidates could register application at the office of BDS Dhumbarahi. Deputy Executive Director of BDS Parshuram Rai said such contest would help to minimize the discrimination against gender and sexual minority.
People who are interested to take part in completion should come up with resume and recent photo along with filing the form. The forms are available from April 3 to April 25. Training for the selected candidates will begin from May 1. In 2013, BDS has organized Mr. Gay competition and Bisoraj Adhikari received the ward.
