Kathmandu (Pahichan) October 15 – Devdutt Pattanaik writes on relevance of Mythology in modern times has said that there should not be discrimination to anyone. He said self-knowledge and religion would not discriminate anyone, neither undermines others.
Pattanaik a famous writer who is known as a great Mythologist was in Kathmandu in last week. Member of Constituent Assembly Sunil Babu Pant and campaigner of Sexual and Gender Minority was asking him the meanings of Nepali myth at a program jointly organized by Pahichan Media and Federation of Sexual and Gender Minorities of Nepal.
He compared between a women who is loyal to her husband and another women without her husband to tell about religion and Karmasastra. He said denying citizenship under the name of Mother is a fool thinking.
He said religious scripts have placed female above the male. “Now the mindset of ruler appears narrow-minded,” he said. He said all human beings live with convictions but all people do not have same convictions. “Apparently, it seems that people with a lot of money are happy and people who do not have money are sad but it could not be a reality,” he said.
“Religion teaches us equality and respect among human being. Self-knowledge teaches us to respect others. The basis of our customs and cultures are religion and self-knowledge,” he added.
