BDS officials get death threats, INSEC drew government’s attention

Pahichan/Kathmandu-12 : Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) drew the attention of Nepal government to address the threat of murder to Officials of Blue Diamond Society (BDS), an organization working for the right of LGBTI communities.

INSEC asked the government to provide security to Executive Director Sunil Babu Pant and members Bhumika Shrestha and Swastika, saying unidentified person threaten them of murder on phone. INSEC has accused the government for remaining quite although the persons actively fighting for LGBTI rights in Nepal were threaten of murder. “It is responsibility of government to secure the rights of people to live freely. Especially, it is the important responsibility of state to secure the Human Right Activists.” Press Release of INSEC released by Subodh Raj Pyakurel said, “We ask Nepal government to punish such criminals threatening the human Right Activists as soon as possible as per the law.” Also some unknown people beat Anjali Thapa , member of the Blue Diamond Society, at Chitwan some days ago. INSEC also accused police not involved actively to punish the guilty of the incident as well. Sunil Babu Pant informed IGP Kuber Singh Rana about the murder threat to him and his member demanding security.
