Kathmandu (Pahichan) January 9 – Congeniality winner of Mr. Gay Handsome Manab Tamang has said members of this community should reach at leadership level to formulate laws on same-sex marriage. Speaking to Pahichan, Tamang said until and unless members of this community reach a decision making level, grievances of this community will not be reflected in the laws.
He said the rights of this community written in constitution have not been translated into action. Tamang said until and unless same-sex marriage is legalized, transgender will have multiple partners. Tamang has already played role in more than one dozen music videos.
He said Mr. Gay Handsome provided an opportunity to be more open. Tamang knew his gender identity when he was studying in class five. However, due to the fear of family and society, he was reluctant to disclose his identity.
He was in regular touch of Blue Diamond Society since three years. BDS Chairman Pinky Gurung urged him to participate in Mr. Gay Handsome competition. He is hopeful that family members and society will accept him. Social media has helped him to seek multiple partners. “Due to the contribution of BDS, I have disclosed my identity, otherwise I have to live with depression,” Tamang said.
