Complaints of women and minority groups must be investigated seriously : Jha
Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 2 – Manchala Jha, member of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) has said that complaints relating to sexual and gender minority and women must be seriously studied and investigated.
Speaking to Pahichan, Jha said members of this community were affected from their own community and there is a need of seriousness in their cases. “Many women have faced violence from their own groups during the insurgency and we have also received such complaints,” said Jha.
According to her, there is a high expectation with commission that needs to be addressed. She said members of gender and sexual minority could have faced violence during the insurgency but it remains unknown unless victims register their complaints. She said there are not any complaints from this community. The tenure of TRC has been extended by three years.
