Dipesh approaches Home Ministry for citizenship
Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 14 – Transgender Dipesh has approached Ministry of Home Affairs to receive citizenship as per the gender identity after Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadi of Makawanpur District refused to issue citizenship.
Earlier, he had received citizenship under male category and now, Dipesh wants to change it making it another category. First, he was told to bring the recommendation of ward office but he was denied saying that there is a need of consultation with Ministry of Home Affairs.
Dipesh asked Section Office Hiramani Subedi on why he was denied from citizenship but he responded it saying Chief District Officer is ultimate authority to issue citizenship. Subdei said there is no reasons for denying the citizenship but it was delayed due to the legal hassles.
Ministry of Home Affairs has already issued a circular in 2066 to issue citizenship on the basis of gender identity. Makawanpur district has already distributed citizenship on the basis of gender to Ajita Bhujel.
