KATHMANDU (Pahichan) August 1-It has been found that the feedback provides by sexual and gender minorities have not been incorporated in the report prepared by Committee on Citizen Relation and Public Opinion Collection. The record shows that only one people have provided feedback.
However, members of this community have provided suggestions from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Nawalparsi, Chitwan, Bardiya, Rupandehi, Banke, Rautahat, Bharatpur, Kalali, Kaski among other districts have provided suggestions. However, Constituent Assembly Secretariat has said that one member from Nawalparsi provided one suggestions.
It has created confusions on what type of constitution we will get as suggestions have been concealed. Chairman of Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee Baburam Bhattarai in a meeting with a delegation of Federation of Nepalese Journalist said that many suggestions have been missed while compiling the feedback. Bhattarai also said that it is dishonesty to delete the rights of Women, dalit and minority groups while preparing final draft of constitution.
Members of this community have demanded action who misplaced their suggestions. Public Opinion Collection Committee Chairman Pramila Rana said sexual orientation will be included in the draft constitution. He dismissed the allegations that Committee deleted the sexual orientations. Rana said Committee does not have any mandate to delete the words and it is mandated only for collecting the public feedbacks. She said all the suggestions provided by sexual and gender minorities have been incorporated in the constitution. Parties have formed a special taskforce of top leaders to incorporate the suggestions provided by people and stakeholders.
Top leaders Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chairman of Madhes Loktantrik Party Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar are the members of taskforce. Chairman of Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee Baburam Bhattarai will serve as a Chairman of Committee. The taskforce is mandated to modify the draft on the basis of suggestions provided by people. Members of gender and sexual minorities have said that there has been conspiracy to prevent their comments from reaching at the top level. They asked the top leaders not to remove the rights mentioned in constitution.
